The Presidential Couple, Barack & Michelle Obama grace the cover of Ebony’s February issue. Headz all over are getting ready to be a part of his historic inauguration, including Usher, Mary J Blige, and of course, Beyonce:
Beyonce’s wish of performing at Barack Obama’s inauguration has been granted — well sort of … The “I Am Sasha Fierce” singer will join several artists including Usher at an HBO hosted inaugural concert taking place Jan. 18.
‘We Are One: The Obama Inaugural Celebration at the Lincoln Memorial,’ will celebrate Barack Obama’s rise to the presidency and kick off a near four day schedule of Inaugural events that includes 10 official Inaugural Balls as well as an Inauguration Day eve youth concert at the Verizon Center. Nineteen artists from across several genres, including Mary J. Blige, Garth Brooks, Herbie Hancock, Shakira, Usher, and Sheryl Crowe are confirmed to appear.
The special, slated to air on HBO as well, will feature historical readings from Martin Luther King III, Denzel Washington, Jamie Foxx and Queen Latifah. For those traveling to or living in the DMV (District Of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia), the concert is free and open to the public. Bruce Springsteen, John Mellancamp, Stevie Wonder, Josh Groban and Heather Headley round out the initial line up for the show.
Could you imagine such a line up if John “The Geezer” McCain had been elected. That sh*t would’ve looked like the f**kin’ Lawrence Welk Show. SMH.
